about

A folk song collected from the nomadic Mongolian tribe “Dschingis Khan” in Bavaria in 1979.
Recorded with a troupe of itinerant klezmorim in an abandoned Soviet elementary school in Vidnoe, on the outskirts of Moscow in the late 2000s. The bridge contains a Russian quotation from a famous Soviet song “Moscow in May”, lyrics by Vasily Lebedev-Kumach. The original Russian ditties, with ironic and exaggerated cold-war motifs, come from Soviet urban folklore of ‘80s and are based on the popular erroneous perception of the original German song as anti-Soviet.
